Why was Amr Diab sentenced to pay 200 thousand dollars?! The Cairo Economical Court sentenced singer Amr Diab to pay the sum of 1 million and 200 thousand Egyptian pounds (200 thousand dollars) to “Alam El Fan” company. This ruling came after Amr was accused of the infringement of intellectual property rights when he performed songs owned by \"alam El Fan\" at the Festival of Carthage without the written consent of producer Mohsen Jaber, and prior authorization from the company. The platinum-selling artist decided to appeal this sentence and his lawyer, Dr. Houssam Lotfi, stated that he will appeal this ruling upon his client’s request as soon as he receives the documented text of the sentence.
