A musical encounter between the deep spirituality, the power of the diwan sound and the fluidity and energy of free jazz, was presented Sunday evening in Algiers by the young group “Jil Essaed” of Oran and the French jazz guitarist Nguyen Le, enthralled the Algerian audience.
Performing at the 7th international diwan Music Festival, taking place in Algiers since Friday, the young Maallem Lahbib, winner of the second prize of the national diwan festival held in Bechar last May, imposed a session of international fusion of diwan.
Invited to share the stage with the famous French jazzman Nguyen Le, who presented his tribute project “Celebrating Jimi Hendrix,” Lahbib and his musician were able to impose their style on stage.
Earlier in the evening, Nguyen Le, who performed many times in Algeria, presented to the large audience, the latest version of his album “Purple” in tribute to Jimi Hendrix.
