Lil Wayne announced the release date of his Free Weezy Album from the stage at a California show Wednesday night.
The rapper will drop the anticipated album -- while fans wait for the ever-delayed Tha Carter V -- on Independence Day. Free Weezy is undoubtedly a symbol of Wayne's growing independence from his label, Cash Money, in the midst of a messy lawsuit after it allegedly refused to release Carter V and withheld millions of dollars.
"I have a new album coming out, it's called FWA, it'll be out Fourth of July," the "Glory" artist announced through the microphone in a fan's clip of the Anaheim concert. Weezy has been continuing to move forward in his career while projects with Cash Money are obviously on hold. He released his latest single via Tidal, Jay Z's alternative music streaming service and went on tour.
