America's Recording Academy says it will present lifetime achievement awards to Glenn Gould, Charlie Haden, Lightnin' Hopkins, Carole King and Patti Page. Ravi Shankar and The Temptations are also to be honored for their extraordinary bodies of work at a special invitation-only ceremony Feb. 9 in Los Angeles. A formal acknowledgment will be made during the 55th annual Grammy Awards telecast Feb. 10 at the Staples Center, as well. "Each year, the academy has the distinct privilege of honoring those who have greatly contributed to our industry and cultural heritage, and this year we have a gifted and brilliant group of honorees," Neil Portnow, president and chief executive officer of the Recording Academy, said in a statement. "Their exceptional accomplishments, contributions and artistry will continue to influence and inspire generations to come."
