The personal doctor and the close friend of Abdul Halim Hafez, Dr. Hisham Isa, who accompanied him through his illness until his death stated in an interview with Adel Hamouda on CBC that he was always placed in difficult situations because of his value in Egypt and the Arab World. The same rang true when he was in Morocco and protesters asked him to broadcast the revolutionary statement during the coup against King Hassan, but he refused only to be arrested and later released. His childhood made him a model for the Egyptian youth, as he didn’t abuse the revolution for selfish reasons. Yet the revolution considered him as a means to introduce itself to the people. Isa said that Hafez was very charismatic on stage and in real life, which made him very popular and enabled him to have a good point of view, like predicting Youssa's artistic future. Isa said Hafez chose not to get even though he loved Souad Hossni. This was the most serious of all his other love interests, as he also dedicated his song “Zay Al-Hawa” to her. He finished by stating that because of Hafez's illness they became very close to one other.
