Egyptian composer and producer Salah Al-Sharnouby has hsaid he is overjoyed to return home safely to his family after being kidnapped for three days. Security forces managed to rescue him without paying the ransom (two million Egyptian pounds) requested by the kidnappers. He told Arabstoday: “I know how popular I am after this bad experience, whether among my fans or colleagues, who were always in contact with my wife for the latest updates. I would like to thank the head of the Egyptian musicians\' union Eman Al-Bahr Darwish who supported me in this bad situation.” He added: “I came out of this crisis with with several experiences, notably not to trust anyone in these current circumstances as we still need time in Egypt to feel safe again. We must arrest all criminals who previously escaped from prison. However I do not underestimate the efforts of the security forces who played a vital role in returning me safely to my family.\"
