Cairo - Arabstoday

Egyptian singer Ameerah Fathi is facing crucial criticism after releasing her first music video for the song “Uqal Kul Al Banat” (Wishing it for all girls). Numerous internet websites and forums have launched sharp criticism against Ameera accusing her of insulting women in Egypt. Many criticized the provocative clothes worn in the clip, along with the sexual implications made. Others accused Ameera of insulting Egyptian women by suggesting that they run after a man until he proposes to them. It was added that the idea of the clip has nothing to do with the words of the song or the wardrobe worn by Ameerah and actors, in addition to the continuous dancing that was also inappropriate. On her part, Ameerah defended the clip stressing that she had received numerous positive feedback from the public. She added that the clip witnessed a very high rate of views on the internet website (YouTube). Ameerah described the cloths she wore as normal and suitable for the idea of the clip that reflects the joy of a girl when the one she loves asks her hand in marriage. She noted that the movements in the clip are innocent flirtations and not provocative and sexual. The clip was to be launched six months ago, but was postponed due to the outbreak of revolution in Egypt. The song is written by Mohammad Jum’a, musically distributed by Tamim, composed by Mohammad Rahim, directed by Mohammad Sami and produced by Wael Hab, Ameerah’s ex-husband.
