Egyptian singer Shireen Abd Al Wahab revealed that she will not back down on her previous decision of not singing in Algeria after the disputes that erupted between Egypt and Algeria during the World Cup preliminary matches between the two countries. According to the internet website MBC.net, Shireen stated that she demanded to be paid 90 thousand US dollars and a private plane to transport her and another to transport her band as her conditions to sing Algeria as a means of placing conditions that cannot be met and in turn turning down her invitation to hold a performance in Algeria. Shireen’s official spokesperson, her brother Mohammad Abd Al Wahab, said that Shireen insists on not singing in Algeria and her refusal is not her way of boycotting the country but rather is a refusal to sing for it. Mohammad said that Shireen knew asking for 90 thousand dollars is an exaggerated wage and cannot be met, but she intended on asking for it to make it impossible for the organizing company of the concert to pay it.
