The community is the pillar which builds a nation, said Riyadh
Gov. Prince Faisal bin Bandar on Wednesday.
The governor was speaking at the Third Social Forum organized by the Social Awareness and Rehabilitation Society.
The inauguration of the forum, which focused on “Society and its technical challenges,” was also attended by Minister of Social Affairs Dr. Majed Al-Qassabi, Minister of Telecommunication and IT Dr. Mohammed Al-Suwaiyel and Dr. Abdul Aziz bin Salem Al-Ruwais, governor of the Communication and Information Technology Commission. Speaking further, Prince Faisal said that people in the Kingdom are fortunate to have Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman, who has been in the forefront of encouraging charitable organizations to render services to the community which eventually help build a healthy and richer nation, as their leader. The Kingdom is well known for its humanitarian gestures in helping people inside and outside the Kingdom. The prince also stressed the social responsibility of the people to help one another in areas where services are needed.
Eisa Al-Eisa, chairman of the Social Awareness and Rehabilitation Society, said that so far around 160,000 have benefited from its programs. Another 10,000 people have made use of the “phone consultations program” of the society which advises people on societal problems and values.
The chairman said that the two-day forum, which will offer scientific insights and initiatives, will also discuss national challenges facing the community in this technological world.
It will help participants to diagnose the challenges of technology facing society, and contribute solutions to the community to help cope with the negative effects of technology, and finding an alternative to the problems.
He also said the forum will discuss a number of themes revolving around technology and its relation to society, and its effects both positive and negative. The main discourses will be supported with workshops and presentation of successful experiences in respect to both technology and society.
