Environment Minister Khalid Fahmy said on Thursday that the African Ministerial Conference on the Environment (AMCEN), currently in session in Cairo, will have a number of recommendations during its final session to be ratified by the African Union (AU).
"Egypt is shouldering several responsibilities during its two-year presidency of AMCEN, including the coordination with members of the Conference's Office and the AU to carry out the recommendations," Fahmy said.
He added that Egypt is also tasked with coordinating the stances of the African countries regarding the climate change and building a unified position and preparing for the Conference of the Parties in Paris.
"Egypt's presidency of the conference represents the recovery of its pioneering role in Africa," he stressed.
