stressed on Monday that coal will be used in the energy-consuming cement industry but under strict rules to avoid air pollution.
"Egypt is suffering from energy problems so we will depend on coal in the cement industry until another alternative is found," the minister said while addressing the first energy forum (INTERCEM).
Today's forum does not aim at promoting the use of coal in the industry because the decision has been already made, he said. "We are here to review energy mechanism in general and the use of coal in the cement industry in particular."
The forum gives a chance for all partners in the energy domain, whether governmental or not, to discuss current challenges and best energy alternatives.
