The current actual available electricity capacity stands at 26,000 megawatts and the number will rise to 29,500 megawatts by the end of the summer after applying an emergency plan, Electricity Minister Mohamed Shaker said.
Another 2,000 megawatts of electricity will be added to the national grid before the end of the year, raising the actual capacity to 31,500 megawatts, Shaker told MENA in a videoed interview.
The agreement President Abdel Fattah El Sisi had reached with German giant Siemens will produce another 14,400 megawatts of electricity, he said.
