Irrigation and Water Resources Minister Hossam Moghazi on Saturday described the Ethiopian step to re-convert the Nile path as "normal".
The new step restores the normal path of the River Nile, the minister said in statements upon arrival at Khartoum airport.
Moghazi left Cairo earlier in the day for a two-day visit to Khartoum, where a six-party meeting of Foreign and Irrigation ministers from Egypt, Sudan and Ethiopia, will begin Sunday.
The three countries hope to agree on issues related to the studies done on the Ethiopian Renaissance Dam.
The Ethiopian decision to re-convert the Nile course has nothing to do with the meetings due to start tomorrow, he pointed out.
