Irrigation and Water Resources Minister Hossam Moghazi on Monday said a new massive underground water source was discovered in Minya.
During a visit to Minya, the minister added that the new source would last for over 100 years.
The "Nubian underground reservoir" extends for countries "Sudan, Chad and Eritrea, along with Egypt", the minister said.
This discovery is a new source of groundwater that will feed all wells used in the 1,5 million feddans project, he added.
Minya is the highest in spaces allocated for the project, Moghazi said.
