The inauguration of the new power plant in the Qalubia's city of Banha will reduce blackout in governorates, Qalubia's governor Mohamed Abdel Zaher said Tuesday.
The new power plant is one of the major projects in Egypt, said Abdel Zaher, adding it will serve governorates of Qalubia, Beheira, Dakahlia, and Kafr el-Sheikh after connecting to the national grid.
Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab inaugurated Tuesday a 750-megawatt power plant in Banha, at around 500 million dollars investments.
The power plant is established on 22.5 acres and consists of two gas units, of a 250-MW capacity each and a steam unit of a similar capacity.
Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab, Minister of Electricity Mohamed Shaker, Electricity Holding Company’s Chairman Gaber Desouky and Middle Delta Electricity Production Company Chairman Mahmoud el-Nakeib inaugurated the plant.
