Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Adel Beltagui said Monday a new system for high-quality monitoring of the fishing activities in Egypt's territorial waters will be applied soon in the wake of several embarrassment for the Egyptian diplomacy to release detained fishermen.
He was speaking on the fringe of his participation in the signing of a cooperation protocol to apply the vessel monitoring systems (VMS) in the monitoring of Egyptian fishing activities.
The protocol was signed by Head of the General Authority for Fish Resources Development Khaled Al Hosni and Head of the Egyptian Company for Detection Services and Information Technology General Mohammad Samir Fathy.
Beltagui said the new system will help in the distribution of Egypt's fishing fleet in the Mediterranean and the Red Sea, noting that new measures will be applied for the optimum use of utilized fishing areas in the Exclusive Economic Zones (EEZ) and deep waters.
