Irrigation and Water Resources Minister Hossam Moghazi said on Tuesday that President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's visit to Ethiopia opened a new chapter of relations between the two countries since it was the first by an Egyptian leader in 30 years.
"The visit is aimed at discussing several fields of cooperation between Cairo and Addis Ababa," Moghazi told the state TV.
He said most of the meetings held by the president with Ethiopian officials including the country's president and prime minister tackled ways of activating the deal which was signed in Khartoum on Monday on the Ethiopian Renaissance Dam.
A meeting will be held on Wednesday at the level of the foreign ministers of Egypt and Ethiopia, Moghazi said, adding that another meeting grouping Egypt, Ethiopia and Sudan will be held next week to choose a consultative office to carry out the studies of the dam.
