One protester was shot dead in western Kenya on Friday as anger raged a day after an election boycotted by the opposition and marred by violence, taking the death toll to five.
A witness in the western town of Bungoma, which borders Uganda, said the man was shot by police as he ran away, however local police chief Moses Nyakwama said he had "tried to grab" an officer's gun and was "unfortunately shot dead".
