German industrial conglomerate Siemens said Thursday it would slash around 6,900 jobs worldwide, mostly in its fossil energy division, with plant closures and around half the job cuts falling in its home country.
Some 2,600 jobs in Siemens' power and gas unit will go in Germany, while 1,100 will be eliminated in the rest of Europe and 1,800 in the United States, the group said in a statement.
