The Dow finished above 24,000 points for the first time Thursday, surging with the S&P 500 to fresh records as the Senate tax cut plan moved closer to passage.
At the closing bell, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was at 24,261.06, jumping 1.3 percent.
The broad-based S&P 500 gained 0.8 percent to close at 2,647.23, while the tech-rich Nasdaq Composite Index advanced 0.8 percent to 6,875.42, falling short of its prior record.
