A "very senior" member of Donald Trump's presidential transition team approved efforts by then-aide Michael Flynn to enlist Russian help in blocking a UN resolution last year, court documents related to Flynn's plea deal showed Friday.
"On or about December 22, 2016, a very senior member of the Presidential Transition Team directed Flynn to contact foreign officials from foreign governments, including Russia," the court documents read.
Flynn pleaded guilty to lying about his discussions with Sergey Kislyak, the Russian ambassador, notably about having asked him to help defeat or delay a vote on a pending UN Security Council resolution criticizing Israel.
