The S&P 500 bolted to a fresh record high close Thursday, led by strong gains in Apple, Facebook and other technology stocks.
At the closing bell, the S&P 500 stood at 2,120.68, up 22.20 points (1.06 percent), about three points above the prior record in late April. The Dow Jones Industrial Average jumped 186.44 (1.03 percent) to 18,246.93, while the tech-rich Nasdaq Composite Index gained 69.10 (1.39 percent) at 5,050.80.
