Omani star Fatma Al Nabhani stormed into the quarterfinals of $15,000 ITF Women’s Circuit tournament in India on Tuesday.
After an easy outing in the first round on Tuesday, Fatma, however, had overcome a stiff resistance from local lass Yadlapalli Pranjala in a closely-fought second round match.
Though the Indian gave a good account of herself, she failed to stop the Omani from advancing to the quarterfinals with a 7-5, 7-6 (5) victory.
In the last eight stage, Fatma will take on Chamarthi Sai Samhitha, who moved up after defeating Prerna Bhambri 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 in all-Indian encounter.
For the record, Fatma defeated India’s Prakriti Banwani 6-1, 6-0 in the first round.
