The 40th session of the Arab ministers of youth and sports council started on Monday at the General Secretariat headquarters in Cairo under the presidency of Libya. Qatar's delegation to the meeting was led by Advisor to the Minister of Culture and Sport for Cultural Affairs Faleh Al Ajlan Al Hajri, accompanied by Director of Youth Affairs at the Ministry of Culture and Sport, Abdul Rahman bin Mohamed Al Hajri and Cultural Expert at the Ministry of Culture and Sport, Jomaa Hama Al Mohannadi.
The ministers discussed meeting agenda drafted by the ministers' offices which includes recommendations from the sports and youth culture committees as well as the Arab League council's at the summit level on convening a summit session on Arab economic and social development.
Speaking to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Al Hajri said the meeting approved the financial statements and the financial position of the council, adding that it decided to prioritize the council's goals in supporting youth and sports activities in Arab countries through financial aid, taking into consideration that no support is given unless a state settles its financial contribution.
He added that activities that are not held during a two-session period can be proposed again through the appropriate channels by submitting it to the relevant committee before presenting it to the council.
