American-based Pakistani actor Faran Tahir has made his own little place in Hollywood and on American TV. His prominent screen roles include the leader of a terrorist outfit in Iron Man (2008), which he followed up with small but significant parts in the sci-fi movies Star Trek (2009) and Elysium (2013).
He has also cameoed in many television series such as The Practice, NYPD Blue, Lost, and Grey’s Anatomy. His latest is ABC Network’s popular series Scandal, which is now in its seventh season.
Tahir appeared in its recently aired episode as Bashran’s President Rashad, who is the US President Mellie Grant’s (played by Bellamy Young) guest of honour at a state dinner. The episode ends with a hint of romance between the two.
A UC Berkeley graduate in theatre, Tahir made his film debut with Disney’s live-action version of Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book(1994).
