NBC renewed "Community" for a fifth season, making the show one of only two comedies returning next season for the network, The Hollywood Reporter said. The beleaguered comedy wrapped up its fourth season Thursday with a 1.3 rating in adults 18-49 and tying "American Idol" among adults 18-34, the entertainment industry publication reported Friday. The show continues without Chevy Chase, who exited in October after friction over the direction his character was going. New show runners David Guarascio and Moses Port, who took over for Dan Harmon this season, will continue with "Community'" fifth season, The Hollywood Reporter said. The pickup comes the comedy's debut in syndication on Comedy Central this fall. "Community" joins "Parks and Recreation" as the only half-hour comedies to return to NBC's lineup this fall, The Hollywood Reporter said.
