The co-executive producer and writer of U.S. comedy series \"The Office\" has sold a new comedy-show pilot script to NBC-TV, a trade newspaper reported Thursday. The ensemble-cast comedy script by Justin Spitzer is about a group of friends whose lives change on the way to a destination wedding, The Hollywood Reporter said. In an ensemble cast, members are given roughly equal amounts of importance and screen time. Spitzer -- whose credits also include \"Scrubs\" and \"Courting Alex\" -- will be co-executive producer of the episode, the newspaper said. Spitzer signed a deal last year with NBC parent Universal Television, the production arm of the NBCUniversal Television Group, the distribution company of NBCUniversal Media LLC. NBC announced Tuesday \"The Office,\" whose first episode was broadcast March 24, 2005, would end after the upcoming season. Spitzer has been with the series since Season 3. His most recent \"Office\" episode was \"Angry Andy,\" airing April 19, which begins with Andy (Ed Helms) returning to the Scranton, Pa., branch of fictional Dunder Mifflin Paper Co. to find Nellie (Catherine Tate) in the manager\'s chair.
