Oprah Winfrey's upcoming seven-part series, Belief, will be a reflective piece focusing on the world population's relationship with religion, spirituality and belief-systems.
On the red carpet the successful television personality further explained the meaning behind the series, as well as the distinction for her between a belief and an idea. Speaking with E! News, Winfrey said, "If you can't stick to a belief when things are on shaky ground, then it's not a belief. It's just an idea."
"I will tell you that there is nobody who gets to be a human being who isn't going to have a dark hours," she said. "There's nobody who gets to walk the human path who is not going to have, at some point in your life, something that looks like failure. Belief lets you know that because it looks like failure, it is just a detour. It's not the end of the road, it's just a detour saying, 'Move in another direction.'"
Commencing its seven-night run on Oct. 18 on Winfrey's cable channel, OWN, Belief will explore humankind's connection with the spiritual through many very different religions and belief systems. The docu-series travels the globe, documenting the stories of individuals and communities on spiritual journeys. Ultimately, the series' website says, "these stories and others will all lead us to ask: What do you believe?"
