Vincent D'Onofrio stars in a first photo for Daredevil.
The 55-year-old actor will portray Marvel villain Wilson Fisk, aka Kingpin, on the upcoming Netflix series. Daredevil shared the picture Monday on Twitter, captioning the snapshot, "We don't say his name. #Daredevil."
"I just brought in this kind of character who in one sentence could easily go from being a child to a monster, depending on where his emotions take him," D'Onofrio told USA Today. "I wanted him to have an appearance of being super-powerful so that when he throws a punch, it's a major punch."
In the comics, Kingpin is a wealthy and powerful crime lord who controls thousands of underlings in New York. He first appeared as an adversary to Spider-Man, and later became Daredevil's archenemy. The character has no superhuman powers, but is strong and skilled in martial arts.
Daredevil season one will consist of 13 episodes, and is scheduled to debut April 10. The series stars Charlie Cox as blind lawyer-turned-superhero Matt Murdock, aka Daredevil, with Deborah Ann as Karen Page, Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson and Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple.
D'Onofrio is known for such films as Full Metal Jacket, Men in Black and The Cell, and starred as Detective Robert Goren on NBC series Law & Order: Criminal Intent. The actor is also scheduled for Jurassic World with Chris Pratt and Run All Night with Liam Neeson.
