Adam McKay’s in-the-works movie about Dick Cheney finally has its stars: Christian Bale will play the former No 2 guy, Steve Carell is former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, and Amy Adams is taking the role of Lynn Cheney.
The casting news, per Deadline, means the movie could debut in 2018. Bale is 43, so it seems we’ll see a younger Cheney on-screen than the last time he was portrayed on the big screen, by Richard Dreyfuss in Oliver Stone’s W.
And though he bears little resemblance to the controversial and powerful former vice president, Bale has a track record of undergoing dramatic physical transformations for roles, dropping 60 pounds for The Machinist and gaining weight and shaving his head (for maximum comb-over effect) for American Hustle.
