Haitham Mohammaed Rafi, a young Omani singer, was crowned winner of the Indian singing reality show, Dil Hai Hindustani, broadcast on Star Plus.
Dil Hai Hindustani had many singing talents from around the world including from the USA and Russia. But it was Haitham’s soulful voice that appeared to have won hearts of Indian music fans.
The show’s judges included filmmaker Karan Johar, music director Shekhar Ravjiani, rapper Badshah and singer Shalmali Kholgade.
Sanjay Dalal, founder and director of “Talent Hunters Oman”, sponsored and promoted Haitham for the reality show from Oman.
“I knew deep from my heart, from the time we were preparing for the great Realty show "Dil Hai Hindustani" that Haitham will win,” Dalal posted on his Facebook page.
“Every Message I sent him, every time I talked to him, I always mentioned You Will Win. He made my dream come true. I feel very proud that my selection and decision to send him to the show was very fruitful,” his post read.
Haitham’s father, Mohammed Rafi, who is also a well-known singer, has been his mentor.
Haitham has lived among Indians and Pakistanis since childhood, and learnt some Hindi and Urdu. He also watched many Hindi movies, and developed his interest in Hindi music.
