Roberto Cavalli's debut fashion show in the region is a hit with models and fashionistas alike By Eduan Maggo, Copy Editor By Eduan Maggo, Copy Editor Published: 00:05 December 22, 2010 Tabloid With his first fashion show in the Middle East on Monday night, Roberto Cavalli gave Dubai's fashionistas everything they needed. He started off casually, sending down the catwalk at Cavalli Club in the Fairmont hotel models sporting flowing looks perfect for beach parties, shopping expeditions and lazy brunches. He followed it up with little cocktail dresses, Greek-inspired goddess dresses and cheeky shorts, before moving on to gowns fit for black tie events, like his show. Roberto being Cavalli, ubiquitous animal prints wound their way through his spring-summer collection, a highlight being a tight pants and fitted blazer combo. While maintaining a comfortably chic aesthetic, he threw in a slit here and there, and offset it with a glam biker-girl outfit that would appeal to the likes of Gossip Girl's Taylor Momsen. A-symmetry was a key element and colours were muted, but a striking azure dress solicited gasps of longing. Said Jamaican model Renae, "The dresses feel amazing. Simply amazing. They're flowing and make you feel sexy. I wish I could get a few!" What did we learn? Have it flowing and comfortable, cinch the waist, accentuate with some bling, and Rob's your uncle.
