The Millennium Resort Mussanah provided the home base for the twelve teams competing in the intensive action-packed final rounds of the nationally televised Oman Schools Football League 2017 at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Muscat.
The Millennium Resort Mussanah has been a proud sponsor of the hugely popular competition.
During the eight-night stay, the talented young players were able to perfect their skills as they prepared for the rigours of their games on the Millennium Resort Mussanah’s outstanding world-class sporting facilities, purpose built to meet the strict international competition standards of the 2010 Asian Beach Games and the training requirements of top-flight athletes.
Christoph Schleissing, General Manager of the Millennium Resort Mussanah, said: “It has been a real privilege to support this exciting grassroots football initiative and see the progress of Oman’s aspiring football stars. Their enormous potential, dedication to their sport and determination to succeed was clear in the games that were watched by thousands of people across Oman. And here at the Millennium Resort Mussanah, we were delighted to see firsthand the positive values and team spirit the Oman Schools Football League inspired in the young players as they took full advantage of the equipment in our state-of-the-art gym, trained in our cutting edge Fitness Park, and bonded while enjoying our beach and a range of fun watersports activities.”
Built for sport and the venue for major events including the FIFA Asian Beach Soccer World Cup Qualifiers and the Laser World Championships, the Millennium Resort Mussanah is also renowned as a place for relaxation and recreation.
Set on a private beach, it boasts a range of exceptional leisure aspects including the Zayna Spa, two infinity pools, an Olympic size lap pool, and a family pool. There is also a marina and dive club, and the needs of younger visitors are catered for in the specially designed Kidzone. An outstanding range of international and local cuisine is served in the Resort’s Mydan and Al Bahar Restaurants.
Organised by the Oman Sports Association in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Al Swayni Sports Services, the Oman School Football League is the first official league organized annually for all public and private schools in Oman. Involving 250 schools from across the sultanate, the aim of the league is to develop the football talents of young players between the ages of 15 and 18 years. It further aims to inspire Oman’s youth to pursue a healthy lifestyle and to introduce them to the many possible options for careers in the world of sport.
