Starwood Hotels & Resorts has signed a management agreement for its first Aloft hotel in Sydney.
Scheduled to open in November 2016, the new Aloft Sydney Pitt Street will also become the brand’s first opening in Australia. Starwood previously signed an Aloft in Perth, but this is not expected to welcome its first guests until March 2017.
“Designed for the next generation of travellers, Aloft Sydney Pitt Street is an exciting addition to Starwood’s fast-growing portfolio, both in the Pacific region and globally,” said Sean Hunt, Starwood’s regional vice president for the Pacific.
“The hotel’s ideal location will make it very attractive to travellers already drawn to the brand’s distinctive energetic social atmosphere.”
Set in a historic building that dates back to 1909, the modern hotel will feature a series of high-tech amenities, including rooms that can be unlocked using a smartphone, free Wi-Fi and 42-inch flat-screen TVs that can be connected to the guest’s electronic device.
The hotel will also feature a bar with outdoor terrace that plays host to live acts, and a 24-hour “grab and go” F&B area.
The Aloft Sydney Pitt Street and Aloft Perth Rivervale will be joined by two more Starwood hotels in Australia in the coming years, with the Westin Perth and W Brisbane scheduled to open in 2017 and 2018 respectively.
