Arizona Highways magazine tapped two Tucson restaurants for its list of the state’s 15 best dining spots. In its fifth annual survey, Janos Wilder’s Downtown Kitchen + Cocktails and Maynards Market & Kitchen are on a list that also includes Bisbee’s Santiago’s Mexican restaurant. Maynard’s landed on the cover of Arizona Highways April restaurant edition, which is now on newsstands. A photo of Downtown Kitchen’s dining room was on the cover of the story, which included another shot of the restaurant, 135 S. Sixth Ave., and a photograph of Chef Wilder. The article applauded Wilder for creating “an airy, art-filled and distinctly urban space to celebrate America’s culinary melting pot.” Maynards Market & Kitchen won points for being a “charming upscale market and dark, romantic restaurant” that has become “both East End hub and food-geek destination wrapped in one delicious package.” Maynards is located at400 N. Tool Ave. Bisbee’s Santiago’s won fans for its “complexly seasoned, not too-chocolatey mole. ... But utterances of surprise and delight are commonplace at this cute, colorful Mexican food favorite,” the magazine wrote of the restaurant, 1 Howell Ave.
