The emergency and crisis management team in the emirate of Abu Dhabi said it is fully prepared to intervene, respond to and handle any emergency caused by the current unstable weather conditions.
The team issued these statements as the country is experiencing fluctuations in weather conditions that usually take place during this time of the year.
In a statement issued on Friday, the team urged members of the public not to circulate false and exaggerated news about weather conditions via social media, which could spread panic among people. The public was further advised to refer to credible news sources.
As part of its annual agenda, the team has developed preventive plans based on real scenarios and conducted routine monitoring to ensure the readiness of first responders.
The country’s weather forecaster has said the UAE will experience partially cloudy and dusty conditions on Friday.
It will be intermittently cloudy during the day with chances of rainfall in some areas, especially in the north and east, the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology has predicted.
The temperature will fall in most regions, with strong and high-speed winds being felt in general, especially over the sea and open areas, causing the blowing of sand and dust, and leading to a decrease in horizontal visibility during the day.
The wind will be north-westerly, varying from 30 kmph to 45/50k mph on land during the day. It will decrease to 15 kmph to 30 kmph at night while it will be 50 kmph to 65/70 kmph over the sea in general.
The sea will be extremely rough with wave heights varying from 4 ft to 7 ft near the coast and 10 ft to 15 ft deeper into the sea.
The NCMS is also warning the people to stay away from the sea, with waves reported to be as high as 15 ft.
