Emirates Environmental Group has called on all community members to participate in the campaign to collect aluminum cans for the 17th cycle of the nation-wide Can Collection Day on Feb 27. Mrs. Habiba Al Marashi, Chairperson of EEG, stated that the campaign will be held in coordination with the concerned municipalities and with the support of the relevant governmental bodies in each emirate. She added, "The campaign for can collection was the first strategic, annual, action-oriented program for the community initiated by Emirates Environmental Group in 1997. Since that time, it has flourished and grown dynamically, providing the platform for all walks of society to display their commitment towards reducing some of the challenges our environment faces in this day and age." The target set for this cycle is 27,000 kilograms of aluminum cans to be collected throughout the year for recycling. There will be special sites set up across the emirates on the 27th of February to encourage participants to stop by and deposit their aluminum cans in a joint, symbolic effort throughout the nation.
