The Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD) will reach out to the public at Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Show (ADIHEX) 2014 , which will take place at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) from 10 to 13 September, with an action-packed interactive exhibition stand featuring hands-on environmental-themed experiences and interactive art installations.
Falcons, salukis, desert hare, and animals for adoption will also be featured at the stand.
"We are excited to showcase our work to protect Abu Dhabi's environment through programmes on land, sea, and air. This year, we want to highlight Abu Dhabi's unique environment and offer visitors an opportunity to experience nature, up close." said Razan Khalifa Al Mubarak, the Secretary General of EAD. "We will also make an important announcement on the first day of the exhibition that will help connect the community with our environment and natural heritage." EAD's stand, covering 1,100 square metres, will highlight major projects that are crucial to its efforts to protect Abu Dhabi's environment, such as the Arabian Oryx Breeding and Release Programme, the Mangrove Plantation and Protection Programme, and the Flamingo Monitoring Programme.
Visitors will be able to experience a virtual tour of the Al Wathba Wetland Reserve and its population of beautiful and rare flamingos at a custom-built movie theatre, take snapshots and selfies at social media photo-booths featuring local environment scenes, and experience Mangrove National Park through a kayaking and paddle boarding activity. Children will be able to learn about the life of the Arabian Oryx through the story of Maha, a young Oryx, as she is introduced into her new desert habitat.
In a display of contemporary art, a graffiti artist will develop a large illustration on a graffiti wall over the course of the four-day exhibition. Visitors will also be able to adopt pets from the Abu Dhabi Animal Shelter which is operated by the Abu Dhabi Falcon Hospital; see desert hare and an exhibition of antique falconry literature, maps, and equipment at Emirates Falconers Club; and interact with salukis at Abu Dhabi's Arabian Saluki Centre.
EAD welcomes all to visit its stand at ADIHEX from 11am to 10pm. Our stand is located in Hall number 10 at ADNEC.
