An Alaska man was attacked and killed by a bear outside a cabin on Lake George, Alaska State Troopers said. Robert Weaver, 64, of Fairbanks was standing outside the cabin when the bear showed up Thursday, the Anchorage Daily News reported. Another person, whose name was not reported, was inside the cabin at the time of the attack. The bear attacked and killed Weaver and left the scene before troopers arrived, State Troopers spokeswoman Megan Peters said. Troopers shot and killed a black bear that wandered onto the scene while they were investigating the fatal attack but Peters said it was not clear whether that bear was the one that killed Weaver. Warmer weather in Anchorage has contributed to a greater number of run-ins with bears and moose, the newspaper said. Police have responded to 16 bear sightings in various parts of the city since May 16, police spokeswoman Dani Myren said. Jessy Coltrane, Alaska\'s Anchorage-area biologist, warned Alaskans and tourists not to try to take pictures of bears or moose, especially in early summer. \"This time of year, a cow moose with a calf is probably the most dangerous thing out there,\" Coltrane said.
