The Ministry of Environment and Water closed down a stone crusher in Fujairah after the management ignored warnings issued by the ministry to take necessary measures to prevent air pollution. The crusher\'s operation was violating the rules regulating the activities of quarries and crushers and the ministry closed the crusher initially for seven days, extendable by another three months to allow the crusher to rectify the violations. The ministry\'s inspectors had visited the crusher site earlier and found that there was heavy emission of dust from the plant and from the loading of vehicles. The inspectors had told the management to take necessary precautions. As the instructions were not followed, the ministry decided to close down the crusher with immediate effect.
