Egypt will start within days establishing its first nuclear power plant in Dabaa, the head of the Egyptian Council for Foreign Affairs (ECFA) said.
The recent meeting between President Abdel Fatah El Sisi and International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Yukiya Amano was meant to underline Egypt's seriousness to build a nuclear reactor for peaceful use in line with international safety standards, Mohamed Ibrahim Shaker told MENA on Saturday.
Shaker said the Dabaa project is the first in a series of national projects meant to realize sustainable development.
Amano has recently visited Egypt to review means of promoting Egypt-IAEA cooperation, Shaker said, noting that the international and Egyptian experts are expected to exchange visits in the coming period to review studies of Dabaa plant.
