The Federal Authority for Electricity and Water (FEWA) has carried out a number of water projects in the Emirate of Sharjah worth AED300 million to meet the growing demand for the vital commodity from new urban centres at Al Madam and Maliha.
Mohammed Saleh, Director of FEWA, said the projects included a 400 km-long water distribution network at Al Madam area and a water reservoir with a total capacity of 4 million imperial gallons to ensure uninterrupted water supply to these areas.
''The project was designed as per international standards to cater to the demand for water in these areas and future urban expansions up to 2030,'' he added.
The new water projects, he said, will serve 45 low-income neighbourhoods in addition to government entities and commercial establishments.
