Iran’s Ambassador to China Mehdi Safari at a meeting on Asia Europe Economic Forum 2011 in Xi’an, China, voiced Iran’s readiness for cooperation in the energy sector based on win-win strategy. According to a report by the Foreign Ministry’s Information and Press Bureau, he also referred to Iran’s status as the second largest owner of gas and oil reserves and said developing countries in Euro-Asia are in dire need of energy and Iran is prepared for strategic cooperation in the field. He also said that Iran’s energy reserves can promote development of other countries including friendly states in Euro-Asia in the long run. Pointing to the plans to develop Iran’s gas and oil fields, he noted that Iran welcomes private sector’s investment in the field. Safari also pointed out that China still adheres to the diplomatic policies of good neighborliness and cooperation on the basis of mutual interest.
