The renewable energy initiative in Africa, launched by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi during the Paris climate summit, aims to produce 300 gigawatts by 2030, said head of the Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency Ahmed Abul Saud.
The initiative is the only one to directly connect raising development rates in Africa with contributing to international efforts against climate change, Abul Saud told MENA.
France announced its support for the initiative with two billion euros, while Germany said it will allot from seven to ten billion dollars for sustainable development, including three billion dollars for renewable energy, he said.
