Saleh Ahmed Al Suwaidi, UAE Consul General in Sao Paulo, has stressed the importance of the Zayed Future Energy Prize at the Energy Forum, organised recently by the World Trade Centre in Sao Paulo.
Al Suwaidi referred to the environment conservation efforts of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, which since then constituted the basis of the UAE foreign policy in the areas of energy and climate change to date.
He underscored that the UAE had many achievements in these two fields, including permanent hosting of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) in Abu Dhabi and implementation of a number of renewable energy projects in the developing and under developing countries.
Al Suwaidi also briefed the Forum about the Zayed Future Energy Prize, which reflects the UAE's serious commitment to supporting renewable energy innovation to curb carbon emissions, preserving the environment and improving living conditions.
He noted that Brazil and the state of Sao Paulo have many companies and individuals who had contributed to the creative achievements in the fields of renewable energy and climate change. Al Suwaidi encouraged qualified individuals to compete for the Zayed Future Energy Prize.
