Google has rolled out a new feature to its Google Sites services, which now automatically renders your site in a mobile format for iOS 3.0+ and Android 2.2+ devices. The most noticeable automatic adjustments include; aligning the header layout and top bar, fitting the width of the site to match the device’s width and smart handling of sidebars, horizontal navigation, and dropdown links within your site. To enable the new features all the user need do is go to the General settings under More actions > Manage site and clicking on Automatically adjust site for mobile phones. This will then enable Google to automatically adjust your website whenever it’s viewed from either an iOS or Android 2.2+ device. Users can make additional adjustments to conserve space as well, such as disabling certain navigation elements or bottom-bar links for the mobile version. Once implemented, site creators can easily access their mobile version of sites in their standard dashboard, site search, or through a mobile preview option in the “More actions” menu. Google’s services are setting a precedent on the automatic creation of a more mobile-friendly site.
