The Indonesian government was appointed to host the Conference of the Parties (COP) and the Meeting of the Parties (MOP) to the Vienna Protocol and Montreal Protocol, in collaboration with United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), a press statement from the Environment Ministry said here on Friday. The event will be held on Nov. 21-25 in Bali province. One of the important events is the new commitment of Montreal Protocol to accelerate the eradication of hydrochlorofluorocarbon (HCFC), as the substance is regarded potential to damage ozone layer and increase global warming of 2,000 times fold compared to carbon dioxide (CO2). The conference is expected to be attended 800 participants from 196 countries, international organizations and related parties. Vice President Boediono is scheduled to open the conference.
