Temps drop in Michigan, storms predicted

While temperatures soared to record-breaking highs in Detroit this week, meteorologists say the warm weather won\'t last. Temperatures in Detroit reached 86 degrees Thursday beating, Wednesday\'s 84 degrees, which surpassed the previous record of 82 degrees on March 28, 1945, The Detroit News reported. \"We\'ve never seen anything like this in March before, ever,\" said Debra Elliott, an observation program leader at the National Weather Service station in White Lake. However, the NWS predicted highs in the 60s for this weekend and the 50s on Monday. \"It\'s not unusual for the temperatures to drop down in April to freezing or below,\" Elliott said. Accuweather predicted severe storms for other areas benefiting from the unseasonably warm weather, particularly the Ohio Valley and Deep South. Gusty winds have been predicted, as well as a possible tornado, Accuweather said. Detroit may also see some storms.
