"These vehicles were first deployed in 2013 to undertake various advanced missions and services within residential areas,” he said.
"They are used as support patrols to enhance safety and security and fight crime. Awareness posters are plastered on the vans to spread the law-respect culture, and to deliver various messages to the public regarding crime prevention, .”
Additionally, Major Al Ameri said that the vans are also used to enhance communication with community members within their neighborhoods.
"These vans support the efforts to create a community police on the move for the service of the various society segments, as they are stationed in specific locations across the emirate. The officers on duty distribute awareness brochures to community members, and answer their queries regarding the various police services. Major Al Ameri also emphasised that the constant presence of these vans across neighbourhoods helps to curb crime.”
Furthermore, Major Al Ameri said that immediate response to emergencies is among the unique services provided by these vans to the public. "The vans patrol the neighborhoods between 4pm and midnight.
