South Korean automaker Hyundai Motor Company has announced the Middle East arrival of the all-new Sonata Turbo Sport.
Taking its place as the new flagship car in a model line-up that was launched in the region last September, the Sport Turbo can hit a top speed of 235 kmph and offers striking exterior design changes and a sporty interior.
The model features a 2.0L four-cylinder Turbo gasoline direct injection (T-GDI) engine which allows for increased acceleration, higher torque (35.7 kgm) and more power - at 245 ps it delivers a 38 per cent increase over the current range-topping model. Supporting this punchy engine, which can reach 0-100 in 7.5 seconds, is a newly refined sport-tuned suspension that results in a sportier driving experience even at top speeds.
On the outside, new features include 18-inch alloy wheels and dual twin tip exhaust mufflers, which enhance the powerful engine tone and complement the performance. From the front notable central grille changes are visible plus sportier LED day time running lights to ensure that it stands out from the crowd.
On the inside, design enhancements include turbo stitching, a sporty D-cut three-spoke steering wheel for easy handling, a new gear knob, cluster and dynamic interior trims.
The Sonata has traditionally been one of Hyundai’s best-selling models across the Middle East, with more than 28,000 units sold across the region in 2014. In 2014 the all-new edition launched region-wide and was the second Hyundai model to feature the brand’s Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design concept.
Multiple comforts include a Panoramic Sunroof, manual rear side window curtains, electrical backlit glass curtain, integrated driving mode system (normal, sports, eco) and an Integrated Memory System (IMS) for the driver seating position, depending on model specification. The Smart Trunk feature allows the driver to open the trunk remotely if hands are full. Puddle Lamps projected from outside mirrors and HID Xenon headlamps add to the premium feel of the vehicle.
The all-new Hyundai Sonata engine options include the 2.0 L multi-port injection (MPI), 2.4 L MPI and now the 2.0 Turbo GDI engine option. The all-new Sonata Sport Turbo is available from April.
